Gareth Davies MS for the Vale of Clwyd raised an urgent question in the Senedd regarding an appalling 35-hour wait for a patient to be seen.
On the evening of the 24th of October, Gareth learnt of a resident was told they faced a 35-hour wait to be seen in A&E by 111. Whilst waiting to be seen, the grandmother had to wait in a 'dirty corridor' whilst suffering with a 'clot in her leg and pneumonia'. Gareth strongly condemns this appalling wait and the conditions of the hospital.
As many will have seen last week, First Minister Mark Drakeford deflected blame and taking any responsibility to a similar situation in South Wales and Gareth is certain that given the reputation of the Welsh Labour Government's failure in the management of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board they will not take responsibility for the unacceptable wait in Glan Clwyd.
Speaking after hearing these shocking circumstances, Gareth said:
''The state of Betsi Cadwaladr Health board and hospitals such as Glan Clwyd is a sign of the Welsh Labour Government's failures but hearing the story of dirty corridors and 35-hour waits whilst a resident that pneumonia shows the situation is far worse than I imagined''.
''I am calling on the Welsh Government to immediately address this issue to ensure that tragic cases such as this never happen again. Considering the First Minister is deflecting blame shows that he is not taking responsibility and not prioritising patients in an NHS he is letting down''.
