North Wales Senedd members Gareth Davies, Darren Millar, and Sam Rowlands visited Denbigh Infirmary to tour the newly refurbished Minor Injury Unit and x-ray systems. The unit was closed for four months whilst the refurbishment took place, which included revitalising their changing rooms which now have improved disabled access, and the purchase of new scanning equipment which allows radiographers to concentrate on quick turnaround. £601,000 was spent at Denbigh Infirmary to overhaul the equipment facilities which will help ease pressure on the overburdened emergency department at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. The refurbishment was part of a £1.8 million investment across Deeside Community Hospital, the Royal Alexandra Hospital, and Denbigh Infirmary.
- Opening times of the Minor Injuries Unit are: : 8am-6pm, Monday to Friday. The unit is closed on weekends and bank holidays.
Following his visit to the Hospital, Member of the Senedd for Vale of Clwyd, Gareth Davies MS, said:
“I was impressed with the new facilities at Denbigh Infirmary which will transform the patient experience and bring it up to the standards we require for patient care in the 21st century.
“Whilst we still eagerly await development on the construction of North Denbighshire Community Hospital, the Minor Injuries Unit at Denbigh Infirmary is a vitally important resource to keep pressure off Ysbyty Glan Clwyd and ensure that patients are diagnosed and treated swiftly for non-emergency ailments.
“I’d like to thank staff for showing us around the impressive new facilities, and I offer everyone who works at the hospital my heartfelt thanks for their dedication and hard work.”
