Gareth Davies, Member of the Senedd for Vale of Clwyd, has called on the Welsh Government to provide better access to modern school funding in our community.
Speaking in the Senedd, Gareth told the Minister for Education that on his regular visits to schools across the Vale of Clwyd, that here is a gap in quality of schools which is leaving children behind. In Rhyl, children are able to access first class modern facilities that make learning enjoyable interactive, and reflective of a modern society. However, schools in Prestatyn and Denbigh are missing out on the same quality of facilities.
After his question to the Minister, Gareth said:
''It is clear that while positive progress is being made to improve schools in Wales, it is simply too slow and the Welsh Government's delay is creating a divide in the quality of education in the Vale of Clwyd which has the risk of leaving some of our children behind''.
''It is unfair that whilst some schools are modern, others are made to learn in classrooms that are as old as their parents and even grandparents in some cases''.
In addition, Gareth made the Minister aware that children with additional needs are facing additional challenges with schools being too small to cater to their unique needs. Commenting on this, Gareth said:
''If schools in Wales are to be 21st century schools, they must be suitable and accessible to everyone, not just to those that live in the right area.”
