MS for the Vale of Clwyd, Gareth Davies, put a spotlight on the continuing North-South divide in Wales around care home fees which particularly impacts residents in his constituency.
In the Senedd, Gareth asked the Trefnydd if she had the opportunity to read the damming report by the Chair of Care Forum Wales that care home fees in Wales showed that there was a large North-South divide. This shows a consistent failure by the Welsh Government to stand up for North Wales and work for the people of the Vale of Clwyd.
Speaking on this matter, Gareth said:
''As the Chair of Care Forum Wales rightly said, there is a divide in Wales over care home fees and it is vital for the Welsh Government to solve this scandal as a matter of urgency. The astonishing funding gap of, in some cases, up to £10,000 shows that the Welsh Government is once again leaving our communities in North Wales behind''.
''In the Vale of Clwyd, we have a particularly high number of elderly residents and it is not reassuring to hear that they are missing out on thousands of pounds of funding''.
As a result of this, Gareth asked the Trefnydd if she was willing to hold an inquiry into this divide so that the people of the Vale of Clwyd, and North Wales get their fair share of Welsh Government funding.
