Member of the Senedd for Vale of Clwyd, Gareth Davies MS paid a visit to Managing Director, Alex Sparks and the team at the HB Leisure Headquarters in Rhyl recently.
Based at HBL House on Ffordd Derwen in Rhyl, HB Leisure are a family business who were founded in 1927 on the North Wales Coast specialising in skill based games and now operate around 150 Arcades and Family Entertainment Centre's in attractions around the globe and in North Wales, including The Palace Fun Centre on Rhyl Promenade and employ 4,500 people worldwide as a business.
The purpose of Gareth's visit was to meet Managing Director, Alex Sparks and other members of the Senior Leadership Team and staff to see the Rhyl Headquarters given that a worldwide company with local roots is based in Vale of Clwyd.
Gareth spent time talking about their local, national and international operations and how the business adapts to modernisation, changes in consumer habits, and advances in technology in an ever changing world.
During the visit, Gareth was impressed by the fact that most of the staff based at HBL House in Rhyl are from the local area and that HB Leisure are committed to the long term future in continuing to invest and develop The Palace Fun Centre for future generations to carry on enjoying their extensive suite of family entertainment in the constituency and across North Wales.
Speaking after the visit to HBL House, Gareth said, "it's fantastic to see a family run business with local roots continuing to be based in the locality and employing local people from the Rhyl area, and long may this continue".
"Despite enjoying UK and worldwide success, it's positive to see the company sticking to its local ties by continuing to invest in Denbighshire, North Wales, local people and tourists, and that's something worth celebrating."
In addition to the Palace Fun Centre in Rhyl, HB Leisure own and operate Premier Amusements on Station Road, Colwyn Bay, The Royal Arcade on Mostyn Street, Llandudno, and have entertainment facilities at top attractions including Alton Towers, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Thorpe Park, Europa Park in Germany and in sites in Dubai and the USA.
Gareth added, "In addition to the companies local operations, it's encouraging to see HB Leisure operating an exciting suite of amusement facilities across the North Wales Coast for local people and tourists to enjoy and I hope this continues long into the future so that people can continue to enjoy locally based games and entertainment wherever they are in the world."
