Gareth was joined by North Wales Senedd Members Darren Millar, and Sam Rowlands to tour the hospice, meet staff, and discuss with the Chairman and the Executive, how they can best support the hospice achieve the required donations to continue the fantastic work that they do.
St Kentigern Hospice have recently adopted the real Living Wage and have aligned pay scales for clinical staff with the NHS, a move that is relatively uncommon in the palliative care industry, recognising the incredible work that clinical staff do.
The Hospice has a café, Caffi Cariad, which they wish to see used as a ‘community hub’, with a popular fish Friday lunch service and a steak night debuting on 30th April. They are also planning a family fun day fundraiser, catered by the talented chefs from Caffi Cariad.
Commenting on the visit, Gareth said:
“It was a pleasure to visit St. Kentigern again following their exemplary Healthcare Inspectorate Wales report last year.
“The hospice is a real Living Wage employer which boasts an enthusiastic team of staff members that provide high quality and compassionate palliative care to patients and love the work that they do.
“I am proud to be an ambassador for St. Kentigern and it’s an honour to have them in my constituency. I would recommend everyone support them, whether by donation, or by visiting their popular café”.
