MS for the Vale of Clwyd, Gareth Davies, has penned a letter to First Minister Eluned Morgan MS urging her to place pressure on the UK Government to reverse the controversial introduction of inheritance tax for farmers announced in the Chancellor’s Autumn Budget. In the letter Davies claims that the planned changes to Agricultural Property Relief and Business Property Relief will in essence lead to family farms being ‘asset stripped’ and sold to large asset management firms which he claims threatens food security.
Senedd member for Vale of Clwyd, Gareth Davies, added:
“I was appalled to see that Sir Keir Starmer met with the BlackRock CEO weeks after the announcement that family farms will be subject to inheritance tax.
“The Labour Party’s death tax will asset strip family farms of their land with large multinational megabanks being the big winners.
“The First Minister must distance herself from these plans which threaten Wales’ food security and urge the Prime Minister to row back on the plans.”
