On Friday 9th February, Vale of Clwyd MS Gareth Davies visited the Park Lodge Residential Care Home in Saint Asaph to meet with residents and discuss his work on behalf of the region. Residents were particularly keen to discuss specific constituency matters, including the impact of boundary changes and farming - a topical issue with ongoing industry concern about Welsh Government’s Sustainable Farming Scheme proposals.
As Shadow Minister for Social Services, legislating to ease current pressures in the Social Care sector is a key part of Gareth’s portfolio, and visits to care homes like Park Lodge give an important insight into the functioning of the sector on the ground.
Gareth was given a tour of the residence by proprietor, Davis Sanassy, meeting residents and learning about the varied calendar of activities at Park Lodge such as the home’s recent celebration of the Chinese Year of the Dragon with a tempting Chinese banquet, and craft events for Valentine’s and St. Davids Day.
Following the tour, Gareth said:
“I would like to thank Park Lodge Residential Home for affording me the time to visit and meet both staff and residents. I was struck by the quality of the care provided, and the quality of the activities offered to residents.”
“The staff were warm and the residents were happy; eager to speak to me about my own work in the Senedd, and engaged with current issues that are concerning them.”
“I am grateful to the staff at Park Lodge for the exceptional care they provide, which was reflected in the atmosphere of home and the contented disposition of the residents.”
