Today saw Gareth Davies MS invite the local community to his constituency office in St Asaph for a Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Tea, coffee, and a variety of drinks were served up alongside an appetising selection of homemade cakes and cookies baked by the generous attendees of the event. A bake-off competition was held, and Gareth was delighted to announce Mrs Gaby Barnes as the star baker, presenting her with a certificate for her German apple cake.
Gareth’s Coffee Morning today raised an impressive £270.05, surpassing the £250 target. From the first nation-wide Coffee Morning held in 1991, over £200 million has been raised for Macmillan Cancer Support. Last year, the UK raised over £18 million, and it is hoped that 2024 will be even more successful.
Following today’s Macmillan Coffee Morning, Gareth said:
“There hardly a family in Wales who hasn’t been impacted by cancer in one way or another, so we all recognise the importance of the emotional, physical, and financial support that Macmillan provides to those living with cancer and their families.
“It was marvellous to see the local community come together today to raise funds for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, which will go towards supporting those living through some of their most troubling times.
“I’d like to thank everyone who stopped by my office to support this worthwhile cause, and I commend the outstanding generosity of everyone who contributed to this event, be it by money or cakes.”
